Women's Pre-Assembly Gathering  

 A Pre-Assembly Gathering of Women took place 14 to 17 November 2002 at Montreux, Switzerland. The purposes of the gathering were to:

• bring together women who are actively involved in the life and witness of the church
• hear their witness, their faith concerns and their visions for the Lutheran communion
• reflect on the Assembly theme and the Village Group issues from the perspective of gender
• help prepare delegates for the regional pre-Assembly consultations and for the Assembly.

The gathering brought together 58 participants, including selected Assembly delegates from each region, regional coordinators for the Desk for Women in Church and Society, women advisers, resource persons and ecumenical guests.
